Montrose (pop 12000) is situated on the East Coast of Scotland roughly half way between Dundee and Aberdeen and Its history can be traced back over 1100 years.
The skyline of Montrose is dominated by the 220 foot steeple, designed by James Gillespie Graham and built between 1832 and 1834. The church itself dates back to 1791.
It is the most northerly of the Angus coastal towns situated between the mouths of the Rivers South and North Esk.
The town is surrounded on three sides by water and has a busy harbour.
There are 3 miles of beach with golden sand to walk on. The town has the widest high street in Scotland.
